Hello to everyone.
My first post here ! And I'm going to ask some questions right away.
I have old V10.4 Carbon Alu frame. My forks are already 27.5" compatible and now I have been thinking to build new rear triangle for my bike, to fit 27.5" wheel, so i could have my DH frame upgraded to 27.5" wheel size.
Lets leave all the cost efficiency etc (26"vs27.5") arguments aside, my question is, since this new rear triangle would have longer chain stay, how will it alter the suspension, will it fuck it up in terms go how it feels & acts now due the longer leverage from longer chain stay ? Or can it be corrected with different shock settings ? Obviously 27.5" wheels will alter BB height, but i think this can be corrected when designing the new rear end.

Thanks

Welcome aboard!

That you can sure fix with different pressure in the air shock.
As for the BB height, I don't know the V10.4 well enough to tell if you have space to sort that part out, but I'd say you can measure your way through that, in about a beers time.

Are you planning to do a carbon rear, or stick to aluminum?

Thanks for the info, i wasn't sure myself so i decided to ask.

I have bad carbon itch, so thats the way I have chosen, and I can't weld aluminium.
Still few things to figure out, how will I put the metal inserts into my carbon build, should I use aluminium inserts or titanium.

Aluminum is much easier to bond in than titanium.
Loads of readily available adhesives will bond aluminum well, only a handful (most damned expensive) will bond titanium and composites.

Where on the planet are you situated?

That i did not know, its good that i opened my mouth about titanium, was going to use it because I have few bits of it.
Here in Spain, Barcelona, well ok, in a spirit of current situation, I guess I have to say Catalunya, not spain...

I can't give you any advice. However, I'm excited to see the outcome of your build. Please post pics along the way. 8-)

I haven't bought all the carbon and glass for the project. This is still on a early drawing stage, also I'm trying to figure out the possible issues what i might have while building this and other things worth of noting. Once this project starts, i promise to post photos, but it will be a while.

In that case, look up Fibermax Composites.
