Very nice, W! Any chance you could get a pic of the Chronicle next to the Ikon? I'd like to see the difference in width.

Glad to Wedge,

Thanks again to Zack @ the LBS who immediately got this beast to seat.
The earlier pic does not do it justice, hope that this does - it's big. :o

Thanks! I'm thinking of using Blunts for my next build, and a big meaty tire up front. Looking forward to hearing how the bike handles. What size Ikon is that?

It's the 2.35, and as big as the Ardent 2.4. IMO it's a great fast durable rear tire. (This one's been 2000+ mi.)

I think I'm going to go with that Ikon for my summer tire.

I might try an Ikon, if the ExiWolf ever wears out.

Here are the 27.5" Chronicles I'd like to try:

That looks really good, FW. I've been thinkin' about Ikons, and your report settles any doubt I had about its' suitability as a rear tire.
A 2.35 Ikon in the back, and 2.5 Minion in the front.

Kind of a reverse-mullet type tire setup!

Yay for the reverse mullet! Midweek I ride from the house, and cover 2-5 miles of pavement. This has been a true test of tire longevity, and the Ikon has been impressive.

If it wasn't for my desire to try a 3.0, I too would be on the Minion.

Tonight was the El Mar's maiden voyage.

Recent rain left things slimy, but not once did the front wander. Happy to have it complete, and love the way it rides. Front brake needs bedding/adjustment, right now it squeals louder than any BB7, and tomorrow is the Baker's Dozen in Leesburg.

It's going on the rear. Although it says 3.0, not even close to the front monster Chronicle.
