Here's a few pics from up on Verdugo Mountain (La Tuna fire).

It was a mix of going in and out of the burn zone as I climbed. And there were times when I was in unburned zones and times when I was completely surrounded by burned hills. It's clear that they used Hostetter fire road as a fire break to keep the fire from advancing to the East on the North side of the range. Couple of fairly well coated phos-chek zones along the way up there.

I was happy to see that my look out bench was free of the burn zone.

^^Awesome pics, dude!. With any luck, I'll be up on Mt. Laguna sometime around noon for a bit of a romp. 40% chance of thunder showers!

Predicted high, 69-70 degrees f.

Got my wife back out on dirt for the first time in a couple of years. She stopped riding dirt after a couple of douche bags caused her to get hurt (2 separate times). It was not a fast ride, but it was 12.6 miles of me smiling. :-)

Nice pics, Hawg! Sorry to hear about the fires. I just spent a week in CO (no bikes) and the air quality was terrible for a few days, too - thanks to a couple of fires in CO, WY and even MT.

I am back home now and have fun on our trails.

Roadie ride yesterday. Looks like Fall is starting to take hold. Too nice not to ride yesterday so I did!

Route: Through Old Town Montrose, past Descanso Gardens, through the twisty oak tree grove roads and on to the Rose Bowl, did half a lap then cut out and over to cross the infamous "Suicide Bridge" of Pasadena (there were no jumpers as I crossed), then over to a popular mtn biking trail head. Did a 180 there and started to head toward home. Back through the oak tree groves and made a stop at Cherry Canyon trail head. From there back past Descanso gardens, through Old town Montrose and on to home.

Taking a break at Cherry Canyon...

Great job, Hawg, good for you. I know I should be doing more XC/road stuff for endurance, but I simply like having fun on the bike too much. This is my getting better at jumps, drops, wheelies and manuals year. :D

That was a short but sweet ride, thanks for meeting up and showing me that trail, Hawg!

Sorry it took me so long to reply, I had to start a big job with only one day off after getting home, and I'm still not done with it! That vacation was way more work than I thought it was going to be; 5 10hr avg days on the road, 3 days of work in LA with 12hrs of commuting, and only two days off somewhere in there. Next time I do a trip it'll be more ride focused and there'll be NO working in LA! Nobody works in LA...

I really wish I'd have gotten into mtb when I lived in SoCal, I used to live a couple miles away from Cheseboro Canyon where we rode! Someday I'll return in better shape and do some real climbing!

Got out for a spin in my local mountains this morning. Been feeling sick the last few days, not sleeping well either. I started later than I wanted to but it was fogged in or marine layered the entire ride so it didn't matter. First section of climbing was the test for whether I had it in me to do the entire planned ride. It went OK. I rested up a bit too long and actually got cold and even shivered a little! That startled me so off I went and from there I started feeling a lil better and got into a groove. Finished the entire ride as planned. Lots of folks out today. Runners, bikers, and hotties. Chatted briefly with a few of each.

And Korn, it was nice to see you again!

Glad you guys got a ride in yesterday while I was stuck in a CE class. It was intereseting but there was absolutely nothing useful that any of use could use in the clinic.
The free lunch was good.
Hawg, so Korn came by for another ride?Excellent! And Mini, you must have some kinda karma this year to wreck two drivetrains on ambush sticks. Something good will happen to you next.!
Can you eat those fungii?

Not a shroom fan but I believe those are edible. I've been due for some bad k. Even with these two fails I feel lucky. They both happened at the bike park and NOT hours out from the truck. Plus no wheel damage. I'm ok with that

They look like oyster mushrooms, which are edible. Ours here are white.
