On the topic of CA. pumas, Hawg are you going to attend this P-22 event?

Lower BB, shorter CS, lighter, more playful. :) It is a Canfield Riot, 29" frame with 27.5 wheels. Their frames are heavily discounted now - $750 for a frame without a shock.
(13.0" BB, 16.3" CS, sub 8lbs)

I see.

Aren't 29er frames a little different in the geo than 27.5 frames?

You've got Plus wheels/tires on it?

Snow is fun, in low quantities. Then its off to the slopes!

Aspens + snow = interesting riding.

For sure, great riding with a lot of varied terrain. The conditions right now are fantastic. Dropping 25 deg in the next few days though. Better get the pants out!

Ah dang that's bad news. As soon as you mentioned the fire I wondered if that might have something to do with this. As Norton mentioned, magnificent animals. I always count myself very fortunate to see one, which is extremely rare for me.

Yikes, that gives me the willies. I remember from my days in Ft Fun that those buggers where everywhere. N CO is packed with rattlers. It was always my understanding that Golden has a healthy population as well. It must be the foothills or something.

Hope all you Cal dudes are doing OK with the fires. The whole thing looks very apocalyptic. I fear there's a ways to go before this is all done.

Mookie, those of us on the coast dodged a bullet the other night with the winds. Today is getting spooky here, incredible dry and getting windy again. We're getting the smoke again as the wind shifts offshore. I'm ready to leave as my wife and I went through our checklist and we are ready to leave. Got my truck hooked up to my trailer for my bikes and chain saws and tools. Got all our photos and heirlooms packed, staged and ready to go. The hard part for me is, I was on the local fire dept. for 20 years, 13 as chief and it's hard not to be committed to staying and making a stand.

Here's a link to the local Santa Rosa newspaper.

I'm jelly! So is that one of the last Riots before they got renamed "Tior"?

And are those 27.5 wheels of the plus nature? I've been wanting to B+ my Yelli, but would need to buy a 140mm fork to do it properly.

Wow Norton, that's some serious business. I really hope that this will all be prep for you and you guys can stay put without evacuating. I'm definitely keeping an eye on this. I just can't believe some of the images coming out of Santa Rosa right now.
I didn't realize you were so close to all this.

And I can only imagine the mixed emotions with your past service with the fire dept. Dang.

I had had no idea fires were getting crazy out your way Norton! As Mookie stated; I hope you're just getting a little evacuation preparation exercise and won't have to leave. Good to hear you're ready and can get out of there if need be!

Man did I time it right 5 days ago with those shots. All the mountains were a glow in yellow. Since then had a cold snap in the high country and in those 5 days I'd say 80% of the leaves dropped. I went up there today and managed to find a few yellow areas remaining for a few shots. A nice 65 degrees at 9,000 ft and blue skies. It was quite surreal with contrasting fresh snow caps in the background.

Regarding the fires in Nor Cal, a friend says he has a coworker who used to live in the fire zone. Apparently, this has happened there before. It scared the coworker back then and he swore never to return. Yikes!

DJ, nice photos. It's nice to reminded of good memories of riding on the Front Range. Specially now with all the tragedies happening around here now.

Hawg, there is a ridge where they built all these mansions overlooking Santa Rosa (Fountaingrove). Back when they were approved, a lot of us in the fire services were wondering what the hell are they doing. Back in 1964 there was a fire (Hanley) that burned in the exactly in the same path as this fire. That ridge was always very volatile in terms of fire potential. Now most of those homes are gone. You would think they would have listened to us in the fire services as opposed to listening to the developers.

The very reason I'm posting them. A little cheer for those effected by the horrific fires.

Thanks DJ - 8-) . Right now it's a beautiful fall day here. Blue sky, birds singing and temps in the mid 70's. And yet a 40 min drive to the east there is total devastation.

The geo is the same if you compensate for the fork A-C difference. My 160mm 27.5 fork has the same A-C as a 140mm 29 fork so the geo is spot on. The only other difference is the low BB - which makes it railllll.

No plus tires for me, those are 2.5 DHF WT front and 2.3 Aggressor rear.

Great pics, DJ!

Wedge: they officially call them "Tior" but they still ship with Riot stickers and paperwork. :D

One sunset pic from today.

The Bros had a "Name our Frame" thread on EB. I had some good ones I thought, like "Rogue 9" and "Route-9", but they went with "Tior", so I didn't win the set of Crampons.
