Thanks guys for the safe wishes. Our climate here (maybe other areas too?) is drying out and heating up. It seems that we have mini seasons every month of the year here. It looks like we are going to have another dry Winter down here in So Cal, too. The weather guys on the news says this is the new norm, high pressure parked over the SW which pushes the rain up and away from our location. It's riding season year round here though, so WTF am I complaining about, right?!

I think all of the west is dry this year. Here it's mid December and Northern Colorado has only had one snow storm of 8". That was a month ago and was melted and gone in 3 days.

Let me edit that: Just watching the news and it was 62 days since that ^ last precipitation, snowfall.

Sti, are you guys having "mild" Fall up there so far? The weather maps seem to be lacking rain/snow for most of the country.

Shouldn't that lake be frozen over?

BTW, I did an adventure ride today, alone, and it was scary to be out in the wilderness without another sole around.

The last I went through there (I believe it was about 1.5 years ago?) there was still quite a bit of poodle dog to avoid. This time, I saw two small plants growing side by side and no others.

People here and down in the OC are talking about how there could be a poodle dog bush come back within all of the new burn zones. I gotta tell you, we are running out of places to burn.

We don't see the poodle dog bush down here at all. Must be an LA thing.
We still have a lot left to burn in SoCal, but even if it doesn't burn, the increasingly warmer and drier climate has really kicked the bark beetles into high gear, at the same time that the trees themselves are dying from thirst.
I'm ambivalent about wanting to live long enough to see the complete deforestation of SoCal occur.

Another loop through Cherry Canyon today, mid day. It was just too nice not to ride. Trying hard to break 1600 miles for the year, just 76 to go.

The distant pale grey peak right smack in the mild of the upper picture is Strawberry Peak.

Nice pics Hawg, I am jelly. Our winter never really starts before January but we've had some snow and rain and ice lately. I love ice riding, I wish the ice cover was more consistent but with the coming higher temperatures and rain, I'll have to wait.

I know this is nothing for some of you guys. It isn’t common here at all. I’m ok with that

I was born in Rochester and we used to go to Letchworth State Park quite a bit. Also into the Adirondacks, I've seen more Black Bear there than I've seen out west. That is a big Black Bear @ 400lbs. though.

Been doing a lot of riding in the area it was found for the past three years. Any wild animal coming in at 4 hundy is a concern for me.
Seen random reports of small ones over the years. Had one time I thought I may have seen one but it was too far away to be sure. I’m ok with that

Glad to read that all of its meat was harvested and distributed freely. Also it has one helluva pelt. Too nice for a rug.

Nice goin' Hawg! Meanwhile, back in Ray-World, I'm pretty sure I'm done with the first and hopefully only bout of pneumonia in my life. Rode around the 'hood today, on the Joker, and I did not black out when I climbed the Palermo Street hill.
It's a start.

Dang Ray! We are at the age where pneumonia can be seriously dangerous. Glad to hear that you are recovering. Blame it on the dry air, dust, ash, and soot in the atmosphere from all the recent fires.

Riding in rain that freezes on hard surfaces is fun... (not, but better than sitting on the couch)

Merry Christmas, Hawg. Next year I get the Shot.

Merry Christmas y'all!

I got out yesterday to try out the new wheels on my HT. Had an issue at the start but I was able to temporarily fix it on the spot.

Ditto!

Nice shots sti and Hawg.

Ray, I hope you've kicked that sickness. I was sick with what I thought was the flu. Apparently not, it only lasted about 72 hours total. Chills, body aches and pains, headache and diarrhea. I feel good now. Friday night and Saturday was the worst. In bed all day Saturday.

Merry Christmas... a day late! oh well...

What new wheels are those, Hawg-Z? They look like ARC 30s maybe.

I'm already tired of the cold, and it's only been like a week or two of colder weather. 19° out right now.
