I have a 2002 SID SL also hanging on the wall that I'll never use. I'm going to clean it up and sell it off along with the 2002 SID Race Carbon I just finished rebuilding.

Along with the SL, I have an extra carbon CSU. The steerer on the SL is kind of short (around 6.25" if I remember correctly). The steerer on the carbon CSU is much longer. So, I'm going to replace the CSU during the rebuild and create the world's only 2002 SID SL Carbon. :D

Here's the SL next to the replacement CSU.

All of the internals.

Here was something surprising to me. I've rebuilt a half dozen of these older SID forks and this is the first one I've ever seen with a blue head on the positive air piston. If anyone ever stumbles across this thread and knows why this fork is a wee bit different than the others, please don't hesitate to post up the answer. ;)

Pic of the old CSU and the lowers.

Tomorrow I'll clean up the internals, replace all of the seals, and hopefully get around to cleaning the lowers and carbon CSU.

Replaced all internal seals and refilled fluids.

Here's my favorite part of the rebuild: inserting the lock out rod. I know it's dorky.

Uppers all finished.

Re-installed the lowers.

Weighed it and she comes in at 1280 grams. :D
